Building

Meshy 7.1 and Tripo v3.1 against scripted Blender builds from toy sheets

Builds and ratings from 15 to 18 October 2026

Result

Scripted builds scored higher on 7 of the 10 assets. Meshy scored higher on the moai, and two assets tied.

Method

Input

Every lane starts from a toy sheet. The sheet shows the object from the front, the side, the back and at a three-quarter angle. An image model draws the sheet before any lane runs. The sheet costs $0.15 to $0.25 per asset. The costs below leave it out, since every lane needs one.

Services

Service Model Input Settings Credits
Meshy Meshy 7.1 (latest) Multi-image: the four views Remesh to triangles, 5,000 target, texture on, PBR off, GLB 30
Tripo v3.1 (2026-02-11) Multiview: front, left (the side view), back Face limit 5,000, standard texture, PBR off 30

Tripo's multiview call has slots for front, left, back and right. The sheet's fourth view is a three-quarter view, so the right slot stays empty. The service builds went straight to the bench as delivered.

Scripted builds

A language model looks at the sheet and writes a Python script for Blender. The script builds the 3D model from simple shapes and paints it with vertex colours. The language model sees renders of its build and can revise the script in a further round. Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6.1 Sol made the scripted builds here.

Rating

One rater scored every build from 1 to 7 stars in the bench's turnable 3D viewer. Lane names stay hidden until a build has its stars. Every build on this page got its first stars blind. One rating changed after the reveal, the Tripo fire station, from 2 to 1. The page shows the latest stars.

Cost

Term Meaning
Cash Money paid for the build, at API prices
Plan List price of credits or tokens drawn from a subscription

A Meshy build uses 30 credits, which cost $0.66 at the Pro plan rate. A Tripo build also uses 30 credits, which cost about $0.30 at a marketplace price per credit, so the Tripo cost is an estimate. Scripted builds cost $0.04 to $0.63 each in cash. Two Opus builds ran on a plan, at $3.22 and $4.24.

Service wins

Moai

Meshy's two moai builds both got 6 stars, one below the top of the scale. The three scripted moai builds got 2, 3 and 2 stars. Meshy's moai sheet was a different and more detailed drawing than the sheet for the scripted builds. Meshy's moai builds ran with a 2,000-triangle target and came out at about 2,070 triangles.

Christ the Redeemer

Meshy's build and the better of two Sol builds both have 5 stars.

Fairy

The fairy is the asset where scripted builds struggle most: 18 scripted fairy builds, from every input the bench has tried, average 2.0 stars, and the best has 3. Tripo's raw fairy got 6 stars at first, then 5 and 3 later the same day. Tripo's shape, molded in Blender, scored 5 stars at 3,000, 10,000 and 20,000 triangles. Molding keeps Tripo's shape and rebuilds its surface.

A Blender script remeshes the shape with voxels, smooths it, reduces it to the triangle target and bakes Tripo's colours into one new texture. Claude Opus 5.5 wrote the molding script for $6.97 in plan, including the time spent working out the method.

Limits

Sample size
The shared sheets have 13 raw service builds, and most assets have one build per service. Tripo has 3 rated builds. Each service call ran once, so run-to-run spread is unknown.
One rater
One person rated every build. Tripo's fairy went from 6 to 5 to 3 stars in one day, all before the reveal.
Pictures
The rater judged every build in the same 3D viewer. The bench's scene thumbnail showed the service builds as a dot, because they import at about one metre.
Tripo's clean previews
Tripo's castle and fire station previews look clean, and both have 1 star. The rater left no comment on either.
Sheets
Every lane used one sheet style, which was drawn with scripted builds in mind. Sheets drawn for the services (flat light, neutral pose) are untested. For the moai, Meshy got a more detailed sheet than the scripted builds.
Settings
Most Meshy builds ran at a 5,000-triangle target. The first moai ran at 2,000, and two early builds have no saved target. Untried settings include Tripo detailed texture, Tripo smart low-poly, Meshy PBR, Meshy without remesh beyond the fire station and targets above 5,000.
Services
The page covers Meshy and Tripo. Rodin, Hunyuan3D and TRELLIS are untested.
Assets
The ten assets were chosen by hand. The fire station has 8 of the 29 service builds. The means describe these assets only.
Games
The bench rates the model alone. Every build here is still untested inside a game.
Cost
Meshy credits come from a subscription, Tripo's price per credit is an estimate, and scripted builds are mostly paid in cash. The three costs use different bases.

Challenge

Challenge types

Challenge Example
A sheet or prompt A sheet drawn for the services, or a better text prompt for one of the ten assets
A setting Tripo detailed texture, Meshy PBR, a higher triangle target, a mirrored right view for Tripo
A service Any picture-to-3D service with an API
A clean-up A script or workflow that repairs a service mesh

Judging

The bench runs each challenge on the same ten assets, with the same sheets unless the challenge is a sheet. The same rater scores each one blind in the same 3D viewer. Every result goes on this page with its own row, stars and cost.

Text prompt used for Meshy's text builds:

A cute chunky low-poly toy {name} for a bright city-building game: simple bold shapes, flat bright colours, soft rounded edges, sitting on the ground with a closed bottom, no base plate, no text.
